Here you are! Artists, podficcers, remixers and translators are extremely welcome, just credit me, let me know and send links! All these are H/D so far. All my fics are on AO3, which is the most up-to-date place to find them - some links here to LJ still need updating and my latest Erised fic needs adding. My name is the same on AO3.

I am looking forward to taking part in H/D Remix again this year. (And you should try it too! There are now two choices of formats, so there are different ways to participate - sign up by Feb. 11.) I realized I needed to update my master list and claim a few things I wrote last year.

Last summer I took part in Round 9 of the Harry/Draco Last Drabble Writer Standing competition, which is always interesting and fun. The theme was Magical Artefacts. I lasted 3 weeks; failed to use anything close to the right voice for a Sorting Hat POV in week 3 but it was interesting to try on that perspective! There's also a little Teddy kidfic for The Hogwarts Express and a trapped-in-the-lift fic for Chocolate Frog Cards. Nothing higher than PG on the page, but implied more later. Anyway, I am finally getting around to posting my 3 "Magical Artefacts II" drabbles on AO3.

And I wrote a fic for H/D Career Fair called He Whose Hand and Eye Are Gentle (on AO3). G rated, but romance is building. 5250 words. Summary: Draco reads poems and sometimes writes them. Harry receives poems and sometimes reads them. Rutherford delivers poems via the scenic route. Wombat snores. Eventually, all comes together, with help from the foxes in red bibs and the sumo referee.

As usual, extremely belated posting here, but I had a lovely time again in this year's H/D Remix, and remixed a fic by [livejournal.com profile] lyonessheart called Broken. It's a story of trainee Healer Harry helping Draco through his recovery from a suicide attempt. Harry's life hadn't been so great either, but they help each other turn the corner. My fic is a sequel and a bit of a travelogue as they head off to China (Sichuan province, to be specific) for a combination of research and holiday. About 3300 words, rated G.

Mending (in the Mountains, with Monkeys)

Also, my drabble Map Kinks/Mischief Well-Managed was deftly and thoughtfully remixed and expanded by [livejournal.com profile] ustorycollector as Two Things About Harry Potter (NC-17, about 3000 words). Fun and moving and written like a string of bright compressed vignettes. I recommend it!

The 9th round of the Harry/Draco Last Drabble Writer Standing is looking for more writers to sign up! Sign-ups have been extended through Wednesday. It's a competition, yes, but a super-supportive one with participants and readers all being very generous to each other, and it's a fun challenge. Each week all participants get the same prompt and word limit and have about three days to write the drabble, then people read (fun!) and vote for most and least favorite (which can be hard), the field of writers becomes smaller (the sad part) and there's a new prompt. I've done it twice. This year's theme is Magical Items and Artefacts. I was planning to just be a reader this year but if they are still needing participants I might sign up at the last minute.... I just signed up! I encourage you, anyone out there reading this, to join the fun! Just click on the pic below.

The gracious, generous and talented [livejournal.com profile] nia_kantorka offered to translate a fic into German for the Fandom Trumps Hate auction, and I was the lucky bidder! (And Planned Parenthood the lucky donation recipient!) She translated my fic for this year's [livejournal.com profile] hd_erised, The Owl and the Pussycat, and you can find it on AO3 or on fanfiktion.de. (She had to do all kinds of cumbersome coding for the fanfiktion.de site, but one nice thing about that site is that readers tend to leave comments, sometimes long ones, as I found when the lovely [livejournal.com profile] phonixfeder translated fics of mine there.) Thank you so much, Nia, and also [livejournal.com profile] candamira, who helped! The generosity of international fandom is a much-needed source of hope these days.

This past year was my first time writing for [livejournal.com profile] hd_erised, and it was a wonderful experience. [livejournal.com profile] dicta_contrion wrote me a truly beautiful gift, On Open Wings, and [livejournal.com profile] 8c left me very fun prompts to inspire the fic I wrote for her:

The Owl and the Pussy-cat.
H/D, soft R (PG-13?), about 8,000 words.
Summary: Harry, Draco, an owl, a cat, green peas, moon-cheese, an elf in a toga, a few Golden Snidgets, and some messing about in boats. Takes place 11 years after the war.

If you prefer to read in German, there is now a translation of this fic by the lovely [livejournal.com profile] nia_kantorka called Die Eule und die Miezekatze - that link is on AO3 - or if you prefer, you can read it here on fanfiktion.de.

This fic was initially inspired by Fum and Gebra. I dedicate it to the memory of the dearly beloved and handsome Fitz-kitty, keyboard-walker, chin-on-glasses-scratcher, and shoulder-leaper extraordinaire. Rest in peace, sweetest boy.

A fun and interesting challenge returns, with two formats to choose from! (Be matched with another participant, or find something to remix on your own, with permission from creator.)

The Harry/Draco Remix challenge invites you to create new Drarry fanfic or art inspired by previous works by other artists and authors.

Well, it has been a week. It started off quietly and nicely with my birthday on Sunday, a rare sunny day in November, with visits with friends and some lovely notes and gifts from LJ friends. (Thank you [livejournal.com profile] birdsofshore [livejournal.com profile] capitu and [livejournal.com profile] dicta_contrion, and [livejournal.com profile] nia_kantorka - I'm still debating whether to mix the fox userhead with my rabbit name/icon!) But to have a US birthday in the first week of November is always a dicey thing. Monday was the first bad news as I heard that I will quite possibly be laid off after December - I teach English to international students, and enrollment is down. Then election day Tuesday. I don't even know what to say about that unthinkable disaster. Being around like-minded people has helped, psychologically, but as for what's ahead - I guess we're going to need to be Dumbldedore's Army here. Community helps.

At any rate, it is time for me to claim my H/D Pet Fair fic, Hippomancy for Beginners, which was a lot of fun to research, and the fest was wonderful as always.

Title: Hippomancy for Beginners
Author: khalulu
Prompt: # 123
Animal: hippogriff, campchurch, thestrals, Fluffy, mention of Pictish Beast, Uffington White Horse
Rating:NC-17
Pairing(s):H/D
Warnings/Content Notes:No warnings, but lots of obscure words and phrases beginning with cock.
Summary: When Draco desperately insists on becoming a Centaur Liaison, he doesn’t know what he’s getting into, especially with that annoying hero-turned-hermit Harry Potter living right at the entrance to the Forbidden Forest. Not to mention foreign unicorn women, slavering three headed beasts, bitter brews, unexpected friendships, and the consequences of a very cocky vocabulary.
Word Count:11,500

For this year's [livejournal.com profile] hp_drizzle fest, which was very fun as always, I wrote a Potterverse version of the Norse folk tale, East of the Sun and West of the Moon. It's light and was a lot of fun to write. I recommend reading the original tale as well!

Pairing(s): Harry/Draco, (side) Millicent/Pansy
Word Count: 5979
Rating: PG
Warning(s): None, although some characters remark often about nose length, which might be rude. But it will be seen that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Summary: One stormy Thursday evening, a big white bear named Draco turns up to carry Harry away from the dreadful Dursleys. They get along fairly happily together until one night Harry’s curiosity gets the better of him, and Draco is whisked away to his wicked aunt’s castle, East of the Sun and West of the Moon. It will take a strong wind to bring Harry that far…..

Okay my lucky f-list, you get to see why I sign up to produce fic, not art. [livejournal.com profile] akatnamedeaster had a YOU CAN draw!!! Challenge!! for anyone (explicitly including people who feel "I can't draw!") to draw an HP character and a cup of tea (or coffee), and post it. I learned about this from seeing [livejournal.com profile] nia_kantorka's darling Hedwig perched on a teacup, and couldn't resist. The result is below. I used my laptop to take the picture, which means you need a mirror to read the writing, oops! Secret code!

Crookshanks and tea

You should go check out the other art, which stars a wide range of characters including the Giant Squid, Peeves and Mrs. Norris, and ranges from adorable (some created by kids) to very funny to teacup porn. You can even vote for funniest/most creative, sexiest, and your overall fav.

Also - in just a couple of days, we'll have fun [livejournal.com profile] hp_drizzle to look forward to! It's a fun way to peek into other corners of the fandom. Or to find a home for that fic you want to write, if you can finagle some connection to the weather....

In my tradition of taking a ridiculously long time to re-post my fest fics in my journal, here is my entry in this year's wonderful H/D Remix fest. If you'd like to see it in Russian translation, someone named Ara-Ara has made one! Remix had some wonderful work this year, and I had the extraordinary good fortune also to have my fic Sparks from the Fox's Tail given a gorgeous remix by [livejournal.com profile] fantasyfiend09, called Aamu is Dreaming.

Title: The Lily, the Violet, the Tiny Babe
Author: [livejournal.com profile] khalulu
Pairing: H/D
Rating: G
Warnings: none
Story notes: A remix of [livejournal.com profile] sassy_cissa's loving little story The Scent of Violets, from Lily Evans Potter's point of view. EWE, implied mpreg.
Words: 1324
Summary: From beyond the Veil, she senses that her son Harry needs her – but who is that very blond baby in his arms? Learning that she is a grandmother takes Lily on an emotional journey.

Read it on AO3 or in my journal here )

A belated post just to mention what an utterly lovely time I had at Leviosa. The people! It was so wonderful to meet people and I'm not even going to try to name everyone, because I'm afraid I'll goof and miss some - but it was my great joy to meet and room with Vaysh, and to meet Dicta_contrion, and FantasyFiend09, and Writcraft, and Alisanne, and Amorette, and Sassy_Cissa, and to make new friends like Persephoneapple and nuclearpolymer, and see old friends like pir8fancier and oldenuf2knowbetter. All of the programming was great and my only regret is not having a Time-turner so I could go to several things at once. (And a Port-key so I could have arrived sooner and stayed longer!) The slash and LGBTQIA panels were great, as were some on issues of race and intersectionality, and there were fun things like the Snape debate and video showing by the makers of Snape and the Marauders, and interesting things like information on writing query letters, something I knew nothing about. And I got a great new book called Snape by Lorrie Kim (drinkingcocoa?), which is insightful and completely on-target about how flawed, tormented, abusive, brave, brilliant, and dedicated he was and what an impossible position he was in. Also got a bookbag that quotes Hermione: "When in doubt, go to the library," and was tempted by the election stuff: Granger/Lovegood 2016!

Maybe because Leviosa was so welcoming, I'm actually thinking for the first time about signing up for h/d erised. Gift exchange fests have always made me nervous in a way that prompt based fests do not. Problem is, I need a long gestation time, and I have 2 fics to finish before then, one of which is still in notes-and-ideas-gathering stage.

I confess to googling for some of these... I was tagged by [livejournal.com profile] vaysh, so here goes:

Begin the next answer with the last letter of the previous answer.

01) Name: khalulu
02) Animal: the Uganda kob looks lovely, but I must go with the upupa!
03) Girl's name: Angharad
04) Color: Delft Blue
05) Movie: Enlightenment Guaranteed (original German title, Erleuchtung garantiert)
06) Something you wear: dress (sometimes)
07) Drink: sarsaparilla
08) Food: apricot
09) Item in the bathroom: towel
10) Place: Lilongwe
11) Reason to be late: enervation

Anyone who reads this is welcome to do it, and maybe I'll tag [livejournal.com profile] lokifan because she often likes memes (just if you feel like it!), and some friends I seldom see post anymore, just in hopes of hearing a peep from them... [livejournal.com profile] icmezzo and [livejournal.com profile] omi_ohmy. No pressure, hope you're well!

hello all!

Well it looks like I'm going to Leviosa after all! Does anyone need a roommate? I will probably be there Thurs, Fri and Sat night. I don't mind sharing with several people if anyone is looking to keep costs low. I'm a quiet person.

I am awed, honored, moved and delighted by the remix of my fic Sparks from the Fox's Tail which has just posted on [livejournal.com profile] hd_remix. It's called Aamu is Dreaming and it's phenomenal. The fic itself is short, just 1600 perfect words, but it's dense with meaning. In my fic, Draco goes to Finland to study wandless magic in the Finnish magical tradition. Aamu is an elderly neighbor of his host family, who is a seer. This remix is the story of Draco (and Narcissa, and Harry) as seen in Aamu's vision and through the lens of her understanding of Finnish legend. In particular the story of Lemminkäinen, a reckless young hero who dies and is revived by his mother's perseverance, with the help of a bee that flies to heaven and back.

One of the greatest pleasures in writing is to feel that the audience truly understands, and in this remix I felt the author understood parts of my story even better than I did myself. And in addition, this is a masterful writer. I really look forward to learning who it is!

Author: anonymous
Title: Aamu is Dreaming
Pairing(s): Harry/Draco

Summary: This is the story of Sparks from the Fox’s Tail by khalulu from the pov of Aamu the seer.

The talented iuventas94 made a lovely drawing of a scene from my fic The Tapestry of Kinship. Mira Altair (Draco's young daughter) is finding her name on the Black family tree, on the tapestry at Harry's house in Grimmauld Place. She is just adorable seen from the back, with corkscrew black curls and her dress a bit askew and little ankle socks. See it here on Deviant Art and leave the artist some love!

Very belatedly catching up on my reposting. These are the 4 drabbles I wrote for this year's H/D Last Drabble Writer Left Standing Round 7. The theme was quotations from Dumbledore, which made for interesting challenges. I usually used every word the word limit allowed. As it happens, these are all G rated. One has an established relationship, one may be pre-slash, and two are Hogwarts era canon scenes from Draco's point of view.

Week 1 prompt: "Indifference and neglect often do much more damage than outright dislike."
(Although Harry suffered more neglect, I felt the Dursleys did actively dislike him, so I wrote about Draco in this.)

Title: Father’s Son Read )

Week 2 prompt:"Words are, in my not-so-humble opinion, our most inexhaustible source of magic. Capable of both inflicting injury, and remedying it."

Title: Unspeak, Speak, Oddment, Tweak Read )

Week 3 prompt: "One can never have enough socks."
My drabble was voted "most favorite" this week! :D

Title: 'Tis the Gift to Be Simple Read )

Week 4 prompt: "We are only as strong as we are united, as weak as we are divided."
(This is the round where I was eliminated, alas. The whole thing was a great experience though, with interesting prompts and a lot of strong writers.)

Title: Dividing Line Read )
