This is my first time participating in a remix, and clearly the remix gods and mods have smiled upon me, because not only did I have gorgeous work to choose from in making my own remix, but some incredibly gifted mystery author has taken a little scrap of a drabble I wrote about Harry, Draco and the Mirror of Erised and created a fascinating, insightful, and beautifully written story called The first of all pleasures: Until the Glass Begins to Fly at
hd_remix. (Or you can go directly to it on AO3 here.)
Summary: The Room of Requirement and the Mirror of Erised gave Harry what he really wanted, and exacted a drastic price. Rated R. 5700 words.
There's a really intriguing premise; a sleek sci-fi vibe to descriptions of Draco's mission and equipment that somehow fits seamlessly with the world of VERY sentient magic he must confront; deeply empathetic understanding of vulnerability, need, desire, maturity and forgiveness; and just flat-out word-perfect writing in every line that's a delight to read. Even though I wrote the drabble this bounced off of, I couldn't predict the ending, but I was deeply satisfied with it when it came.
So I encourage you to do yourself a favor and go read this, and spread the word!
