I left the prompt for this (first prompt I've ever left) and this story fulfills it in a way that is so profound, moving, quirkily funny at times, insightful and beautifully written, I'm overwhelmed. A story about healing. I have no idea who the author is, but someone whose work I'll follow, for sure. When I went to comment on things I loved, it was just studded with them. If you want a partial list scroll down to my comment amongst the other raves, but to avoid spoilers here I'll just say do yourself a favor and read this. (Note - you do not need to love poetry or feel that you understand the prompt's poem to appreciate this fic - it was the seed of inspiration, but the fic is clear and accessible prose.)
Kiss the Joy (Until the Sun Rise)
Summary: The Room of Requirement was severely damaged in the war, but not so much that it could not provide for one lost student and another young hero—especially when they needed each other most of all.
Rating: NC-17
Word Count: ~38,000
Author's Notes: As we all know, the theme of this fest is “Bound to You.” More specifically, the prompt I chose asked for “freedom from bondage,” based on the lovely poem “Eternity,” by William Blake. As it is quite short, I’ll reprint it here:
He who binds to himself a joy
Does the winged life destroy
But he who kisses the joy as it flies
Lives in eternity's sun rise.
